Park Home Roof Maintenance: A Checklist
Summer temperatures can cause havoc with building structures, and Park Homes are no exception. With the structure expanding with the warmer temperature, it’s essential to check the Roof and perform any maintenance to avoid disasters on the next horrible rainy day. Follow along with our checklist:
Check the Roof Tiles
If you have a pitched tile or tile effect metal roof; check that there are no loose or broken tiles which could lead to serious water damage. And if you have a flat roof, this must be checked regularly for signs of cracking and wear and tear and have maintenance if necessary.
Check the Gutters
You should also regularly check that your gutters and downpipes are clear, particularly if your home is sited in a wooded park, as many are. Blocked downpipes and gutters can lead to water overflowing and penetrating the home through the fascia boards or small cracks in the textured finish.
Check Flashings, Joints and Seals
Another forgotten section is any joints and seals, especially when the roof meets the exterior walls. Unfortunately, rain can get in at any angle! Look for signs of cracking or splitting.
Check Roof Vents
Check for cracks around the housing, problems and blockages that could lead to more extensive damage to your roof or structure. This as well will keep your home more ventilated in the summer months.
